How Credible is La Liga? (Spanish Football League)

Lets not take anything away from the quality that is Barcelona and Real Madrid, but let us be serious. How credible is this league? These two teams average almost 4 and 3 goals a game. How often have these teams had to fight for a result? 90% of the time the result is a given. People always like to call the names of players at the various spanish teams but are they really that good. The English Premier League and Italy Serie A have shown what a competitive league should be and is like and still giving quality football. Please Give me your opinion

  1. you're right...the credibility of La Liga is under question for a reason. But I think the main reason many of these clubs are not competitive enough is because of funding. A lot of these teams have strong history in the league, and have produced great players from time to time, but have never found the financial stability needed to invest in their clubs-what the teams of La Liga need to be more credible are investments from large corporations and sheiks

  2. Agreed, La liga is not very competitive. What i find is in spain, they seem to focus more on technique, passing... basically technical ability. Whereas in England/Italy, teams can win dirty... they can basically put aside attractive, put aside total football and grind out results. Aside from the top two in Liga i find clubs are more of academy sort of setting. Preparing players to eventually sell them... Espanyol, Getafe, Valencia...not bad teams but more of academies in my opinion.

  3. Honestly the la liga bbva is a good one but truth be told with madrid and barcelona at the pinacle its really no competition in terms of the number 1 and 2 position....madrid and barcelona have done the 1 2 in la liga in the past couple of years no one else has come close to challenging in recent times but if this new salary cap comes to pass maybe it will change things (Im not for this salary cap crap tho)

  4. Put Madrid and Barca in EPL they terrorize everybody, bar Man Utd maybe cuz they have a good enough defence.

  5. @Anonymous defeat but terrorize....NAH. No team in Prem is gonna allow Barca and Madrid to run circles around them for 90 minutes and they will get physical. Of course Barca n Madrid cud beat anybody in EPL but terrorize...no.

  7. emirates gunner, who are you fooling, sides get physical in spain as well, teams have tried kicking barcelona but it has not worked. sides all over the epl have gotten rings ran around them time and time again, man utd vs blackburn for eg. and reemy dan, The English Premier League is the best marketed league, particularly for us in the caribbean because we are in an English Speaking country and are exposed to pro-british broadcasting. The way clubs operate in Spain is also different, for example, Barcelona is not owned by anyone individual pumping endless cash into them, they have several sponsorship deals and from ticket sales and merchandise are able to compete with the man citys of this world. barcelona and mardid are on top of their game but the league will not always be like this, i would suggest we (ultimately as football fans) should sit back and enjoy it, because its not gonna be like this forever. La liga is competitive, i only wish villareal was in the champions league to run bout men, again...

  8. p.s. The Champions League is the only competition (currently)pitting the best of Europe against each other so to those who argue that Barcelona would struggle at the Britannica Stadium in Stoke-Upon-Trent vs Stoke City, ask Stoke to qualify for the Champions League. Then go look at the record English sides have against Spanish opposition in Spain.

  9. @Rsj_Barca to be honest barca and madrid ARE the man city's of the spanish league...for years too...yes i agree they dont have specific owners but they have rich popular presidents that get them the best deals from tv rights and other sponsorships hence they pocket majority of money from the league. That is my reason for the gulf in class. Every summer Real Madrid has 120 million fresh pounds or Euros to splash on new players...also in the premier league teams don't get thrashed like how madrid and barca handle the teams in spain...its a much closer and competitive league in my opinion. And im a fan of villareal but dont jump on their wagon as yet, since Juan Roman kicked away their penalty against Arsenal no one has really mentioned them. This season they are playing good football though. You have downplayed the EPL's teams on spanish grounds but from my recollection the english team's haven't been too bad against them lately...arsenal took out madrid...so did liverpool...liverpool also took out barca on their way to the final....man united beat barca the year they won also...and lets admit it...one team barca don't like playing are chelsea...toughest opponents they have had in the past 6 seasons in CL...Premier League teams make it tough...always this weekend just passed in a small example of how tough that league is

  10. @Rsj_Barca compare the amount of red cards, yellow cards, fouls, that presented in EPLcompared to that of La Liga... run circles?? Players/ Teams in spain do not believe in gettin physical...fullstop. Tell me how many goals Barca get from set pieces b... i bet you can count it on one hand. Teams in Spain allow them to play their football, allow them to pass the ball around. they simply do not get into Barcelona's face. Have you seen the tactics against Arsenal, they are no Barca, but you get in Arsenal's face and they are the biggest chokers in life. No good team allows arsenal to run riot against them, andthey are closet thing to Barca in the EPL in terms of style...Their largest victory was what? 6-0 against Blackpool but they are new comers, they havent establish the way to play Arsenal. The point is, In spain, teams allow Barcelona, more so than Madrid to play with football, knocked it around... all im sayin is they need to get in their faces more...im not sayin they will...ofcourse Barca will find a way but try gettin in their faces for 90 minutes...draw some fouls, tell them beat you from set piece play... I've seen Chelsea do it against them in CL semifinal and i've seen Holland do it against Spain in WC final. Yea, it maybe anti-football but isnt the objective findin a way to nullify or outsmartin ur opponent. Notice in both those cases, the Spanish team prevailed but it was a certain way of minimizing the damage or creatin a wall so to speak

  11. @Rsj_Barca and also Stoke is a robot team who win games based on set pieces and physicality. They is little to none sort of technical ability in that team. Imagine teams in Spain, who have the technical ability gettin as physical as Stoke and still able to play football...Now that, is what i call competition. People blind Nigel De Jong day in day out but he is the best cdm in football. He is competitive as hell but he can still pass a ball around as well as van bommel and thats why rooted for them in WC final. They understood the way to beat Spain, which is basically the Barca & Madrid team, was to get in their faces. How credible is a La Liga who do not do this and allow Barca to play blackjack with them ???

  12. I don't think you can say that barcelona's dominance over liga can take away from liga because they are a team who will establish their style on any team. We've seen it year after year in the champions league with this current group in the last few seasons. It is impossible to stop barcelona from establishing their type of play on you. Their technical ability in midfield is far beyond any team in football history. They even established their style on inter. Inter beat them because their plan was to allow them to play...but where they wanted barce to. Where the problem is in liga is not the ability of the other teams because they have good players...it's the mindset. The teams are simply beaten before they take the pitch because they know they are playing the greatest team. But barcelona's dominance is not a reason to doubt the league because they treated madrid, bayern, arsenal among others...the EXACT same way they treat midtable liga teams

  13. i think people need to accept that this barcelona team is a phenomenon and we won't see a team like this one for years to come..real madrid cannot touch barcelona right now..the only way they would is if cristiano ronaldo performed a master class but against barca he doesn't get fed the ball which is what he relies on. this barca team will dominate for years to come and would win any league in the world. real madrid would not win the EPL if they played in it. however i do think that playing small teams from the EPL in the form of stoke and wolves at their home grounds are a much more stern examination than what is provided for them in la liga...btw villareal is a nice team for real kareem
