Arsenal FC vs Barcelona FC : What did we witness?

1.That both these teams play the sport beautifully. Smooth passing ( sometimes over passing) silky skills, great movement and over all just great on the eye.

2. Arsenal's defence is really not that good ( barca EASILY could have killed this TIE by the 65th min)..desperately missed Sanga on the right and Clichy falls asleep way to regular, Dani Alves enjoyed tonight!

3. That Lionel Messi is human. Did he really miss 2 one on ones?? In the same game?? wow didn't know he does that. Nice through pass for Villa's opening goal still.

4. Cesc Fabregas? No sir...JACK WILSHERE. The teenager is the heir to england's midfield and will be a regular for years based on what we have seen. Not sure if he was tackled more than twice today. Hardly ever caught on the ball( unless Eboue played a ridiculous pass to him) fantastic passing and a driving force in the midfield. Could have easily worn Cesc's captain armband in this game. BOSS!

5. Cesc Fabregas continues his hot streak of having a stinker against his boyhood team. 2 out of 2. Besides his beautiful clip to RVP in the first few minutes was non existent  and gave the ball away a good few times. Should have taken the note pad out and write down pointers based on Xavi's and Iniesta's ball retention skills and decisive passes on the big occasion.

6. Barcelona has NO PLAN B. No depth at all. None what so ever. They were evidently rattled by the RVP equalizer and had no answer to the lift in Arsenal's game although they dominated this game since the 10th minute. If the first 11 doesn't do the job, it won't be done.

7. Barcelona will boss any midfield in the world, on any ground, at any time. Only thing they need is the motivation to get up and walk out of the dressing room. It is tooooo easy for the catalans. At points in time, Arsenal didn't have a touch on the ball for something near to two minutes or even 3. That is crazy!

Tell me what you thought of the game and my point of view on the first leg. Champions League is back!

  1. I agree with this assessment-I actually thought Fab would make or break this game, but Wilshire was the lynch pin

  2. Fair analysis...i told shane this and ill say it here too...in jack wilshire arsenal have finally replaced patrick viera and in Sczesny they have finally replaced david seaman...also i think based on Koscielny's performance tonight that he could also be the new keown...just gotta build on their performances tonight and the work wenger has been putting in for the last 5 years might just start to pay off...eboue needs to realise that hes not actually that fast and stop trying to run past players so much!!

  3. I think on this day, we wanted it. Arsenal really went out there on fought for it. It changes nothing in terms of how Barca will play or how the second leg will be. Barcelona will always have 65% plus possesion and teams will always have to chase n grind. But I thought today we went out n played football. Even after the goal, we came out strong again. Gotta give credit to the spirit of Arsenal. Hope it keeps up. P.s. RVP is so much cunthole quality my god.

  4. Not much to say, totally agree except for the defensive statement, I kind of wet myself thinking how it would be with Vermaelen back, however I am not glorified with that immediate though, I felt apart from the defensive line we were pretty decent, not as solid as I wanted to be but Djorou and Koscielny are definitely an ever growing partnership at the back, it will hurt my heart to see them disrupted nearing the end of the season. Also it's very good to see Arshavin regaining confidence in himself... just as a side note.

  5. One more thing, i'd like to add...As i said i thought we went out there and really went for it but we must take into consideration Barcelona had no real leader at the back. Puyol's absense was a HUGE factor in this game. Pique & Abidal are good defenders dont get me wrong but Puyol's absense was key and lucky for us we were able to capitalise. Pique also got a yellow in this game which keeps him out of second leg and he is probably one of the best passers of the ball as a centre back. Not only his defensive abilities but his ability to pin point a ball 10-15 or 25-40 yards to his team-mates is incredible... which is what we're tryin to mould Vermaelen into along with his aerial ability. Anyways, im strayin from the point, we got a bit of luck and it seems the Gods are givin us a bit more. We still gotta go out there second leg and get a result. We'll see what happens. P.s. RVP...FUCKING quality !!!!

  6. Another thing guys. Sorry, Im just buzzing from this victory. I think we could all agree that Alex Song has been the most improved player for Arsenal over the last 3 years. Now, he was not magnificent tonight, as expected with a midfield like Barca, but i thought he held his own, played his way out of few situations and compared to Cesc on the night, we have to say he was more consistent at the big moment. I thought the yellow card in the 6th minute kinda restricted him from getting in their faces a bit more but i am seeing so much improvement from being just a Obi Mikel in our midfield. P.S. ....RVP ya gine kill he!!! Valdes aint know bout them rifles. Ask Sagna ya assssssss!!!!!!!!!
